Library

The library at Ark Globe Academy is open to all students Monday to Friday from 8am - 5pm. Apart from its main function as resource centre, where the students can read, borrow books, complete their homework and do research on the computers, the library also serves as a safe environment for all students who feel the need to retreat to a quiet and friendly place.

The library is also running the Accelerated Reader programme for the school, where students have the chance to take quizzes on the books they read. Years 7-9 classes usually also have a chance to do this during their library lessons once a week.

Clubs in the library

Creative Writing - Monday lunchtime

The Creative Writing club gives students who aspire to be writers or who simply enjoy putting their thoughts on paper the opportunity to meet to read their work and discuss writing techniques.

Quiet lunchtime - Wednesday lunchtime

If you would like a quiet place to read or study, come to the library on Wednesday lunchtime. At this time, only quiet, individual activities are allowed. No need to book, just turn up.

Homework Club - Wednesday 3.30 – 5.00pm

Run by qualified youth-workers, this is the club to come to if you would like help with homework, revision or research. When you’ve finished your work you can play brain games and take part in competitions. No need to book, just turn up.

Book Club - Thursday 3:45-4:30pm

Book Club is a lovely gathering of students and teachers passionate about reading. After choosing a book to read each week (or every two weeks, depending on the book) we meet and discuss it.

Bookshop

If you are looking for the next great book for your child to read then try our bookshop. All the books in the bookshop have been tried and tested by Globe Academy students. Each book comes highly recommended and will help your child to become a lifelong reader.

A small selection of books are presented at a time and will change every half-term. You can also use the site to ask for book recommendations for your child.
