Sports Day Champions
The last few weeks have seen students from year 4 to year 10 displaying their sporting prowess on the athletics field and track as they competed in the Ark Schools and our own sports day.
The primary pupils took to the track first when 30 children from our primary school went to compete in the annual Ark Sports Championship at the Linford Christie Arena. The children competed within their year groups against pupils from five other Ark primary schools trying to earn as many points as possible. Throughout the day, there were lots of different events from a 60m Sprint to an Obstacle Course. Every child showed great team spirit and resilience throughout the day and this resulted in the children scoring lots of points for the school which lead to some amazing victories. A special congratulations must go to the years 4, 5 and 6 relay teams who all won their 800m relays and our year 4 children who won the most points out of every school that competed.
It was not only on the track that the pupils shone but their behaviour throughout the day was impeccable and earned them lots of postive comments.
On Monday 27 June, it was the secondary students' time to shine when students from years 7 to 10 visited Croydon Arena for Ark Globe Academy's annual Sports Day. The day was fantastic with all students displaying great perseverance and growth mind-set across all events which included a staff v student relay. Throughout the day there were some students that showed particular talent in each year group and they were awarded Sports person of the day their names are displayed below. Congratulations must also go to McKinley School who were the overall Sports Day winners for the second year running with 19,390 points to Elbrus's 17,170. Well done to all staff and students for making it such a fantastic day!
