Soup and Bread Sale at Borough Market
Some of our Year 9 students sold soup and bread, which they had made, at Borough Market for the charity Fareshare. They raised an incredible £115, which will help to make meals for vulnerable families in Southwark.
Gbemisola (Year 9) said “It was lots of fun and very profitable. And the Mayor of Southwark said that ours was the best soup in the market today!”
A couple of weeks before the sale, the students attended a workshop and learnt how to make ciabatta and soup at Borough Market. Their sweet potato soup was very popular and enjoyed by the community.
Ms Hammond, Food and Nutrition Subject Lead at our academy said: “I’m very proud of my students who worked hard in the freezing cold to entice customers to try our delicious soup. They gained some business experience and an insight into the food industry.”
The Principal Mr Jones was among customers and said that he enjoyed the soup very much: “It is great to witness Ark Globe students using their culinary and enterprise skills to raise money for Fareshare in such an iconic venue. Our students displayed great a example of community leadership.”
