Elite Football Development Centre team proves itself a match for Fulham Academy

A team of players selected from the Ark Globe Academy/Fulham FC Elite Development Centre has drawn 4-4 with a team from Fulham Academy. The team’s first ever game together took place at Fulham FC’s Motspur Park training ground this week.

The Elite Development Centre’s team was made up of Year 7 to Year 9 players from across Southwark and included two students from Ark Globe Academy; Mohamed from Year 7 and Kareem from Year 8.

Colin OMOGBehin, Head of South London Recruitment/Academy U16 Coach, Fulham FC said:
They brought the game right to the academy boys and were 2-0 up in the first quarter. Showing good pressure off the ball and menacing on the counter attacks, causing Fulham problems all night. The match ended 4-4 after the final whistle blew.”

“The players were a credit to their schools, coaches and the programme and showed a good account of themselves on and off the field. As a result some players will be going in over the holidays for trials. The efforts displayed last night, confirms the hard work and development that is going on with these young people at the centre.”

Players who are part of the Ark Globe Academy/Fulham FC Elite Development Centre attend weekly training sessions with coaches on Ark Globe Academy’s state-of-the-art 3G pitch. The Centre aims to nurture and develop young Southwark players with outstanding potential to be future Fulham Football Club First Team regulars.

The centre was officially unveiled last October by Huw Jennings, Fulham FC Academy Director and Matt Jones, Principal of Ark Globe Academy.
